The Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office (KDP-FRO) received a delegation from the USA Consulate General in Kurdistan Region.

Hoshyar Siwaily, the Head of (KDP-FRO), received Andrew Lintz, the Head of Political and Economic Affairs at the USA Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region. At the meeting Mr. Siwaily talked about the latest political and economic developments in the Region and the new government, stressing the readiness of the Kurdistan Democratic Party to support the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government of Iraq to resolve the outstanding issues between two the Governments. During the meeting the current situation in the Kurdistan Region, the challenges and opportunities the new government faces including the top priorities for action were brought to the attention of the US delegation. The Head of KDP-FRO referred to the current positive relations between Erbil and Baghdad and KRG’s genuine willingness to solve all the outstanding issues in accordance with the constitution. He also said that the various committees formed to conduct the negotiations with their counterparts in Baghdad will soon visit the Federal Capital. The current volatile situation in Kirkuk and Shangal including the impact of the forthcoming election and census in Kirkuk and the destabilizing role played by both PKK and PMF in Shangal were highlighted. The ongoing efforts between the USA and Turkey to establish a Safe zone in the Northeast Part of Syria was another topic of the discussion and Mr. Siwaily hoped that these measures will bring peace and stability to that area. For his part, Mr. Lintz thanked the KDP-FRO for their continued support to the Consulate over the past years and wished its continuity. He reiterated his country's support for the Government and the people of Kurdistan and talked about his government’s willingness to assist the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal government to find a formula to resolve the outstanding issues within the framework of the Constitution. He underlined the importance of dialogue and peaceful engagement to secure a better future for the entire region.
